Itinerary from Saturday to Friday

Saturday and Sunday

The journey starts in Sarajevo, where you’ll get to see the small alleys and corners of town, visit local artisans, and take part in a culinary workshop, cooking traditional Bosnian dinner and dining with a view to the city. You’ll have coffees in Baščaršija, the old town that dates back to the Ottoman empire. Sunday dinner will take place in a beautiful restaurant in downtown Sarajevo.

Sarajevo is an exciting, truly multicultural city with a warm soul. It smells of coffee and sweets, meats being prepared for dinner, and smoke from the thousands chimneys of small houses on the hills. It’s loud, but welcoming, rugged, but beautiful, full of cultures and contrasts.

Monday and Tuesday

Before moving up to the mountain, you’ll do one last pitstop in town to visit the local farmer’s market for some shopping. After you’ll move up to the mountains, and accommodate in a rustic, old mountain hut. During two days you have lunches outside on hiking trails, visit local farmers, taste some of their rakijas, and dine by the fire enjoying some of the best dishes native to the mountain areas.

On the Bosnian mountains time stops, and you experience how people have lived here for hundreds of years. It is here, at the latest, where you forget worries, and endless amount of time takes you over. Suddenly looking up at the sky or having a chat with the village sheep is the most important thing you’ll do in a day.

Wednesday and Thursday

On Wednesday morning, after a hefty mountain breakfast, you head south to Herzegovina. This is the part of the country where wine is made and fruit trees are plentiful. You settle in a beautiful town, and visit a local, family run vineyard, natural sights, taste the delicacies of the local farmers. You’ll dine in a small restaurant and stop in Trebinje and Mostar, two unique Herzegovinian cities.

Herzegovina is known for its wines, fruit farms, fresh water springs, clear rivers, and amazingly beautiful hilly scenery. There are small towns and villages that dot the way from Bosnia through Herzegovina towards the Adriatic Sea. This area has been populated for over 12,000 years and this alone makes the land interesting, with markings of each civilisation that stood on it.IMG_1874IMG_1773
